The ice sports complex in Prague 11 is becoming a reality.

2017-10-29

The last days of October 2017 are giving the Ice Sports Complex project a real boost. The first stage of construction has been completed, which includes a running track with a long jump sector, a large multifunctional court with four basketball hoops, suitable for all conceivable ball team sports, floorball, tennis and volleyball courts, as well as courts for netball, tossball, small handball and possibly other sports activities. The youth started using all the sports facilities immediately after their completion. The investor has thus fulfilled his promise to turn a dilapidated complex of inadequate sports areas into modern and safe playgrounds again. In addition, an asphalt road was laid for the eventual access of service vehicles and the sewerage system was repaired. During the opening ceremony and handover of the playgrounds to the Ke Kateřinky school, where the Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnáčová was also present, everyone stated that they were looking forward to the completion of the second stage of construction. This will be the Ice Sports Arena with two ice surfaces for skating, hockey and curling. The arena will also include an active recreation zone with fitness, physiotherapy, restaurant and additional facilities.

The entire Ice Sports Complex is scheduled to be completed in December 2018 and should serve the youth and public of Prague 11 and, naturally, all Prague residents. The concept of the operation is set as strictly public, that is, it is planned for public skating, skating lessons for the youngest years, but recreational athletes and the disabled are not forgotten. The project is hopefully followed by sports associations, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Czech Olympic Committee and the Prague 11 Municipal District together with the Prague City Hall.
